Here we are again, I hope you are all doing OK with the blocks so far. I have one more of my 15″ blocks to do but I have at least done last weeks 6″ blocks. I think one of my 6″ blocks may need remaking, I guess I was having an off day, but I will worry about that later. I figure I don’t need to worry until it comes to putting it together. I am starting to get excited about how this will look and we have only just started really. I am thinking I might start keeping the blocks on my design wall when I get a few more done. One of the ladies in the discussion group has made a scale layout and makes a scale copy of each block as she does them. Then she can use bluetack to stick the blocks on the layout. Using the loose blocks means she can shuffle they layout later if she needs to. It’s a really neat idea and much more space efficient than my plan.
This week we are making 12″ blocks. These are fun as we have space for more complex blocks and 12 is divisible into several different grids which gives even more options. Yes I am excited by this size, sad maybe but hey it makes me happy. The theme will be birds. If you are looking online you may need to search for specific birds to find some blocks, I will tell you there are a lot of bird related blocks. I think one day I might have to do a quilt of just bird blocks, and maybe avoid too many that actually look like birds so it isn’t too obvious.
- For the small quilt you will need 1 block and it will be position green 2
- For the medium quilt you will need 2 blocks and they will be positions green 2 and 12
- For the large quilt you will need 2 blocks and they will be positions green 2 and 12
Yes this week is one of those weeks where those doing the largest size don’t get extra work. We have a few of those as the addition piece is actually quite small. Enjoy.
